Fraser has spent over 35 years in the high-tech markets, including defence electronics, mobile telecommunications, and corporate venture capital. He has accrued extensive experience in a variety of international markets, ranging from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the CIS. Including as CEO of a multi-billion dollar public listed company.
His Board/NED positions have included DETECON USA, Mozambique Cellular, Maxis Berhad and the parent holding companies of Turk Telekom, CellC and AirCel India. He was also chairman of the Dubai based media company, Intigral.
During the past 15 years he has overseen high value investment portfolios and worked in (both permanent and interim) CEO roles, NED and shareholder advisory roles. His focus has been increasingly on igniting growth and turnaround situations with an emphasis on four main areas:
- Redefining and implementing winning business strategies for sustainable growth
- Successful re-financing of multi-billion USD bank facilities
- Defining and communicating achievable shareholder ROI
- Culture change and operational efficiency
One of his current long-term assignments is to advise on the strategic direction and investment portfolio of a diverse 10 billion USD family-owned Saudi conglomerate, specializing in ICT, telecom, media and satellite sectors.
Fraser has recently spent four years in KSA, latterly at the Middle East's largest telecommunication operator group, Saudi Telecom (STC), which generates over 16 billion USD of annual revenue, of which over 5 billion USD was from the international investments under Fraser’s responsibility. He was a member of the senior executive team within the group responsible for strategy, investments and the corporate VC fund. He represented STC on the boards of its largest holdings.
Previous to this role, he worked as the CEO of the mobile operator Zain KSA, a Vodafone Partner market operation in Saudi Arabia (Vodafone’s largest in the Middle East).
Fraser holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics and Applied Electronics from the University of Manchester, and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications and Satellite Communications from the University of London (Intercollegiate).
Andrew has spent over 30 years in high-tech markets, including mobile telecommunications, electronics manufacturing & engineering, the Internet and software engineering. He has accrued extensive experience in a variety of international markets, ranging from North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Including as an officer of a multi-billion dollar public listed company.
During the past 10 years he has honed his skills creating significant shareholder value in turnaround and growth situations. In both permanent and interim senior executive positions, he has focused on the following areas:
- Redefining and implementing winning business strategies for sustainable growth,
- Gaining engagement across a wide audience through effective communications,
- Changing culture to deliver transformational change,
- Effective engagement of government and regulatory authorities.
Andrew has been appointed to act as an independent Expert in numerous disputes between parties in the telecommunications industry. Andrew’s expertise focuses on the commercial interpretation and implementation of contracts between telecommunications businesses, for example: wholesale services contracts, national roaming, tower sharing, M&A, mobile virtual network agreements (MVNO) and inter-operator transactions, etc. Andrew has acted as an Expert in cases before national courts, national chamber of commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce.
Andrew spent five years in Saudi Arabia, turning around the public listed third mobile operator, Zain KSA, as Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer. In the three financial years prior to his tenure, FY10, 11 & 12, the company reported annual losses exceeding US$450M per annum. In 2017, the company reported it first net profit since inception, and has continued to report profits ever since.
Andrew draws upon a wide range of experience in the high technology and telecommunications industries. Having 12 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, with Motorola and Racal Electronics, he started his career designing complex electronic products for manufacture. He spent several years in Silicon Valley, working in the Internet industry for Inktomi, the predecessor of Google. And over 12 years working with telecommunications service providers, as an executive and in a consulting/interim capacity.
Andrew holds a Master’s in engineering from the University of Surrey, and a MBA from the London Business School. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
