Optimizing the LTE Air Interface with Rohde and Schwarz

The demand for mobile broadband services is putting increased pressure on LTE mobile operators.

Simply deploying LTE base stations to provide LTE coverage is only part of the solution. Radio network optimization is widely accepted as a means of improving capacity and performance in a cost-effective manner.

The Wray Castle LTE Optimization course enables optimization engineers to identify key parameters which can be tuned to provide peak performance demanded by subscribers.

Many optimization engineers will have cut their teeth on GSM and UMTS networks. But LTE is a relatively new technology with its own unique radio characteristics. This training course explains the key metrics used in LTE, their relationships and how to interpret their values. This is an essential prerequisite before the task of optimization can begin.

The engineer is then guided through the key idle mode parameters and how their settings can improve network performance. This learning process is reinforced with real-life examples and illustrated using industry leading measurement tools from Rohde & Schwarz.

The R&S ROMES software, R&S TSMA radio scanner, R&S Network Problem Analyser and the R&S QualiPoc drive test tool are used to obtain real-life measurements and how to interpret the information they provide.

The tools are then used to investigate the connected mode parameters giving the engineer a practical insight into the optimization process.

The use of the tools is used to aid and enhance the learning process. The training does not focus specifically on the capabilities of the tools, therefore the techniques learnt can be applied to any industry standard equipment.
