Mobile number portability (MNP) enables customers to switch telecom providers while retaining their existing phone numbers. In the UK, MNP was introduced in 1999 to promote healthy competition among telecom operators. This system allows consumers to easily switch between providers without the hassle of changing their contact details. By increasing consumer choice and encouraging competitive pricing, MNP has been instrumental in driving innovation and improving service quality in the UK telecom market.
