This self-paced programme is designed to help rail professionals develop the knowledge and awareness needed to support accessible, inclusive and customer-focused rail services for all passengers.
The training is delivered entirely within this Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and can be completed at a pace that suits your schedule. The course has been designed to be flexible, allowing you to complete learning in short sessions and return later without losing your progress. To get the most from the programme, we recommend setting aside dedicated time for study and, where possible, choosing a quiet environment with minimal distractions so you can fully engage with the content.
The course uses a variety of learning methods, including text, images, audio, diagrams and interactive activities, helping to create an engaging and practical learning experience.
The programme consists of six modules:
- Module 1: Disability Awareness
- Module 2: Legislation and Passenger Rights
- Module 3: Passengers with Reduced Mobility
- Module 4: Passengers with Visual Impairments
- Module 5: Passengers with Hearing Impairments
- Module 6: Passengers with Intellectual, Developmental and Learning Disabilities
At the end of the course, you will complete a final assessment comprising 30 scenario-based questions covering situations that may arise both in stations and onboard trains
